Well, one thing that really kicks my butt into action is to not only understand the WHY behind doing something but also making it applicable to my life - you can relate, right? Welcome to episode 40! In this week's episode, we’re chatting with Sarah Blondin who is the writer and creator of the transformational podcast, “Live Awake”. She spends her days, raising (and wrangling) her two young sons, in the countryside of British Columbia, Canada. She is currently writing her first book, due to release in the fall of 2019. After spending years disconnected and at odds with her inner self and world, Sarah moved from Vancouver, to rural BC-and took a deep dive within. Through years of introspection and quiet solitude, Sarah uncovered for the first time, her authentic writing voice, and connected with what she calls “ a mainline to her divine source of wisdom.” She found ways to allow her heart to guide and govern, and to override the fear and trepidation she had around being vulnerably open. Coming awake to the beauty she believes is intended for each of us, Sarah has dedicated her life to the pursuit of helping others find their feeling hearts again. She hopes that what she has gleaned through years of deep introspection, and meditation will assist listeners in turning toward themselves, and uncovering the great wealth carried within. Hello, and welcome back! Today we’re gonna chat about habits, routines and rituals, and how honoring these daily patterns can actually boost creativity, enhance our focus, spark energy and basically help us kick ass each and every day. Now, you’ve probably heard of the gut-brain connection, but do you actually know what that means? To give you a super simple example, let’s do a little experiment. Think of vinegar - let’s think of raw apple cider vinegar to make it even more specific - think of the color, the smell, the temperature and the taste… You might not be anywhere NEAR vinegar… but… you’re probably starting to salivate - even just a bit, right? So, this is just ONE example of how connected our brain and gut are. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Last week, we talked about movement and fitness from a personal perspective - how to get your butt moving during the day - either at your home or your office. So, today, we want to broaden that net and talk about movement while being social. If you’ve heard of “blue zones”, then you know that having a strong social network - or finding the right tribe - even if it’s small - can dramatically improve your health. If you haven’t heard of blue zones, they are basically areas of the world where people tend to live the longest and highest quality lives. People living in blue zones - many of whom live to be over 100, chose–or were born into–social circles that support healthy behaviors. And something super fascinating is that research shows that smoking, obesity, happiness, and even loneliness are contagious, which is kind of wild, when you think about it. So, the social networks of these long-lived people have definitely improved and shaped their healthy behaviors. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This month’s theme is movement and fitness, so we’re going to dive in to some of our favorite ways to move our butts. BUT don’t worry, we’re not talkin’ box gyms and extreme workouts. We’re going to be talking about some unconventional movement. We’re on the edge of spring here, so it’s a natural time for us to start stretching and moving in ways that we may have put on hold over the winter months. It’s time to oil up those joints and put those muscles back to work. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
